Last weekend, when it was nearly 80 in NJ, I felt lazy and a bit foolish with my snow tires still on the Boxster.

This morning, I’m shockingly glad I didn’t switch over yet.

Good luck!!!

Thanks to social distancing protocols the roads were fairly empty, so there’s that.

Consider it a character building drive.

Stay at home. It’s dangerous out there.

I took off my snows back in April. This is the third time it's snowed since. But none of it accumulates on the road so it's not bad. Just cold and wet to deal with.

Is it noticeable in any way when you’re driving on winter tires in the heat? That’s been one of my concerns when considering whether to invest in snow tires.

Of course, the real concern is it rarely snows anymore (sigh) but still, any time the roads are slick in the winter I wish I had better tires.

Theyre squishier from t he sips (any temp ) but they’ll wear out faster in heat.

I understand, I’m just curious whether you can feel it.

A little noisier and definitely not as much grip as my summer-only tires, but I’ve never minded the snows for a few extra weeks at either end of the season. It’s actually a bit more fun because you can get loose here and there ....something that’s not too easy with summer performance tires on the 2.7 986 Boxster.

Two years ago I left NJ in a blizzard and road-tripped to FLA for the Amelia Island weekend. Stayed in FLA to visit my Mom, 80-90 degree temps for a week before I drove home. Snows were never an issue and I didn’t notice any noticeable wear over ~1500 miles in 70+ weather.

I don’t do too much snow driving, as it’s not my DD, but b eing able to drive the Boxster all winter (in colder temps) is why I love them. Especially when it’s 35 degrees and raining....that’s the real weak point of summer tires IMO.

I think similar squishyness summer vs winter.

They tend to get hot but not sticky and have a different feel, the tread might flex a more than appropriate . I want to say they feel  kind of sluggish? Between that and the tread design they never feel as sharp or planted as a summer or 3 season in the warm dry and they wear out much faster.

I’m very pro winter tire though. I feel if your daily high dips to around 45F or below for months you should have a set. It to doesn’t snow here much but for 3mo the temps don’t dictate to be on   summer or 3 seasons.
